Bagby Airfield Clubhouse Development

The Clubhouse

The proposed Clubhouse is a single storey building with a 2 storey mezzanine floor accommodation wing which gets it's height from the natural slope in the landscape. In addition to the accommodation, the building includes a restaurant, bar and members area and a back office area for staff, storage and kitchens.

Sustainability was a fundamental design criteria for the new Clubhouse and as a result it is proposed that the building construction be based on stabilized rammed earth. The sustainability factors are considered further in the environmental section

The Clubhouse, like it's predecessor, will incorporate a licensed bar with kitchen facilities serving hot and cold food. The provision of food will be split between bar meals, available all day, and restaurant meals which will be available at specified times. The new facilities have been increased in size to cater for those staying in the accommodation. The bar meals will be functional and similar in nature to those currently served at the existing clubhouse. The restaurant will cater for the more discerning taste and will be compatible with the quality of accommodation provided.

The south east wing which includes the restaurant and bar will also include an area set aside for members of Bagby Aero Club. The area will act as a social area for the members as well as housing aircraft movements logs, flight manuals and reference books along with computers providing meteorological and other services for pilots.
