Bagby Airfield Clubhouse Development

The Environmental Objective

The entire development process has maintained a focus on the environmental objective set by Bagby Airfield's owner, Martin Scott, from the very outset of the design process.

"The scheme must improve the local environment and be cutting edge in terms of sustainability."

Improvement to the local environment is achieved by way of new hangarage coloured to blend with the landscape and the removal of old dilapidated buildings. The new Clubhouse is designed to be compatible with an Airfield establishment with strong presence whilst maintaining a reduced visual impact.

Improvement is further achieved by the comprehensive landscaping scheme which sees tree and hedge planting, the creation of herbaceous parterres and a reed bed and the consequent biodiversity arising from the proposals.

The sustainability objective is achieved by numerous design factors which are covered further in this section.
